It does not ensure that the student can understand the text, as that requires the elements of text complexity to be addressed.A student's Lexile measure is obtained from a reading test or program. For example, a student who receives an 880L on an end-of-grade reading test is an 880 Lexile reader. Higher Lexile measures represent higher levels of reading ability.
