Starfield DOES support 32:9 (super ultrawide) - kind of. This is a follow-up post from my original post saying you couldn't run the game at 5120x1440. Copying and pasting the last bits of that edited post so folks can potentially resolve this issue for super ultrawide gaming.

The weapon FOV cut off on Starfield ultrawide happens if you create a Custom.ini config file and set your FOV on an existing Save file. This will cause you to see the FOV of your weapon and character model being capped at 70. The Viewmodels and Weapon FOV settings appear to be baked into Starfield’s save and configuration files.

If you are on PC, both Skyrim and Fallout 4 support ultra wide with simple .ini edit, or download the mod that do it for you. As newer game, Starfield likely will have it on launch, but if not, just use the ini edit method.
